This blog is my way of getting re-involved with one of my personal passions in life...living a healthy lifestyle and helping others realize they can do it too.

If I can provide inspiration, motivation or information on your journey to being a healthier you, I'm stoked :)

A couple pics of my morning.  I hit the gym for a quality full-body routine. I have been back at it for about 2 weeks now and I am definitely feeling the love!

I had my protein shake on the drive to the grocery store where I stocked up on my organic fruits and veggies. Colors are amazing!

The second pic is my breakfast of choice lately. I have been playing with the recipe lately, but adding the sprouts and avocado is a perfect combo for me. (all organic ingredients)

-4 eggs

-roma tomato

-avocado

-radish sprouts

-whole wheat toast

My new breakfast habit.
Tea, oj, toast, eggs w/tomatoes & basil, and a multi :)

PLEASE do your best to buy locally! You never know where that food from the grocery store is coming from…

Getting Outside the Box: The Definition of Functional Strength
What is strength? Not strength like science or weightlifting defines it, but strength for you in your everyday life? Let’s look at the idea of functional strength and what it really, truly is.

A good article worth reading. I’m all about being functionally fit. Sure, having super sexy abs and great beach muscles is great, but being capable of using your body is the most important goal if you ask me.

Just lovin’ the hat/bikini/fit combination. Oooh, and she’s not married! So you’re telling me there a chance…I read ya! ;)

I’m creating a random daily routine to keep from losing too much progress

I am living in the Tetons for another 6 weeks or so and need to make sure I don’t lose too much muscle while I’m up here. I have no “gym” to workout at so it’s all about making use of what I have. The food here is less than ideal so I have to really work to stay on a schedule and make wise choices.

Breakfast has been eggs, hashbrowns & tea. I have been skipping the fried/fatty stuff being served on the employee lunch line and instead have been making a salad with tuna, hard boiled eggs, garbanzo beans, broccoli, and a vinaigrette dressing for lunch. Depending on the dinner being served I might even duplicate that at night.

I have a stash of healthy treats in my room for late night cravings so I feel like I am doing ok with the food being provided.

My fitness routine has basically been hiking/trail running and also runs on the road. Doing anywhere between 5-8 miles each time. In my room, I have started a new daily routine of:

  • 100 pushups
  • 100 situps/crunches/oblique crunches, etc

So far so good. I feel the soreness in the chest, shoulders, and core so I know things are working. Make do with what you have! No excuses for poor fitness or health!

By far my favorite!
Though I generally don’t go for the behind-the-back version. It can screw your shoulders up…or at least it does mine.
